We just had the best experience on Rottnest Island with Swan River Seaplanes. Dean our tour coordinator had contacted us saying we could not go by Seaplane due to numbers but we could go by normal Airplane if we wished. We said that's fine so we were picked up by taxi on the day and taken to a local airport where we met Dean and our pilot for the day Trennet, they explained our day ahead and gave us a written schedule for the day, this was also our passes for the days excursions and meals then we were on our way. Trennet our pilot was very professional and got us to Rottnest Island in no time and we still had time for photos on the way. Once on the island we made our way across the island to have morning tea at Pinky's beach club, we were helped by the local tour company Adams with all our travel on the island and any directions required, the morning tea was great and the beach club was very good. We then did our first tour which was by coach with Adams of the whole island, the knowledgeable driver did a great job and showed us all the good bays of the island, and any Quokka's which were out, then it was dinner time. We had dinner at the Rottnest Hotel which was very good and well laid on for us, but we were a little late coming out of here so we thought we had missed the next tour. But no the excursion bus had waited just for us at the pick up point and we were on our way again. Next tour was of the old Gun implacements from world war 2 at the end of the island this was very good and very informative of the events that took place here, it did cool us down in all the old tunnels of this complex. End of the tour and the bus met us again a we made our way back to the airport as we could customise our trip as we wished any time. It had been a very hot day so we had decided to make our way home, we could stayed longer. Once at the airport we had our last Quokka encounter just outside, Trennet our pilot was waiting for us and we got on our back to Perth. Dean was waiting for us and had organised our taxi back as well. Dean had organised a brilliant day for us and we cannot thank him enough, he pulled out all of the stops for us and this trip will always be remembered, and very professionally done. Dean & Trennet thank you a brilliant day.
We'd been on the ferry many times to Rottnest and thought an aerial view would be a spectacular way to view the island and something a bit different. It didn't disappoint! Tall people will have to manoveur around to fit in the plane its tight and compact. Leaving Perth via the Swan River we enjoyed a lovely morning view of the city before heading towards Rottnest. A low figure eight over the island gave everyone on either side of the plane a magic view. Morning tea at Pinkys beach was just picture perfect with the lighthouse to the right, the new eco set up is also very impressive. We then hopped on an air conditioned bus to tour around the island before coming back to an enormous lunch at Rottnest Hotel. The tunnel tour during the afternoon was very interesting but the guide was very monotone and if you can't handle steps or steep declines probably avoid. The plane ride back was smooth and very scenic absolutely loved our day, highly recommend.
From pick up to drop off, this tour was very professionally run and well organised. The tour hosts went over and beyond to ensure our day was thoroughly enjoyed, to which it was. The seaplane was a definite highlight amongst our group of six - 15 minutes or so each way across to Rottnest Island allowed us all to take amazing videos/photographs of the beautiful landscape that Perth has to offer. The tour operator that drove us around the island (air conditioned which for November, was a godsend!) had a wealth of knowledge and shared with us some interesting history (and personal stories) about Rottnest. A full day exploring the island, and with a stop for a delicious lunch (shared with the famous Quokkas of course) and a swim, this full day tour is well worth it, especially for those short on time to explore Perth. We were over for a wedding from New Zealand for a few days and wanted to take in as much of the city as possible so this trip was perfect for us. Cannot recommend enough!!!
Surely the best trip available out of Perth. The seaplane ride is fantastic (if a little scary at times!) but the aerial views are fantastic and the island is stunning with so much to see, including the famous, friendly quokkas.Once on the island we had a great and informative tour including a nice breakfast and lunch.Don't visit Perth without doing this!
From early morning pick up at our hotel to drop off in the late afternoon, this has to be one of the most organised and professional full day tour we have every been on. We were made feel so special-just the smile from the first second made us aware that we were certainly in for a treat. Everything was sorted for us. My husband, two children (aged 7 and 4) and I didn't expect such treatment. Everything was just perfect! The 15/20 minute seaplane experience ( each way) was great especially as we did a figure 8 over Rottnest Island on the way over ( awesome photos and video footage). The pilots were so friendly and lovely ensuring we felt safe at all times. ( Of course we had a full safety run down before hopping onto the seaplane). Tours, all food ( morning tea and lunch and train journey were all included in the price. We were met on Rottnest by Greg, our tour guide. Again nothing was an issue. He ensured we covered every nook and cranny of Rottnest Island and with him we saw sealions, whales and quokkas. We had a beautiful morning tea in a private section of the hotel, followed by some free time ( our kids loved swimming in the beach closest to the hotel). Then our lunch was organised and again very secluded. After lunch, we headed off on a train ride before heading back on the tour bus with Greg via the lighthouse, to meet out lovely pilot for our Seaplane back to South Perth. From start to finish, this has to have been one of the best experiences we have ever had. ( We recently flew in a helicopter in the Hunter Valley). We were so well looked after....I can highly recommend this company. You will not be disappointed. Enjoy having as much fun as we did :-)
If you can do only one trip from Perth, this definitely should be the one. We were picked up from our hotel, and taken down to the water to watch the seaplane come in. We took off for Rottnest, lucky to have beautiful sunshine. Our pilots were two young female New Zealanders, very professional, obviously competent. We did a figure of 8 around the island, then landed on the tarmac. Ted met us and took us for a scenic drive; he's a lovely guy, friendly and knows a lot about the island. We hadn't been before, so this was a great introduction. Morning tea at the pub: excellent. Quokka sighting was a first for us. We wandered around the old buildings and museum, then lunch, followed by a short trip by train to inspect Oliver Hill gun battery. A volunteer guide, Ian, showed us around. Back to the airport and home, again by seaplane. This was an amazing day out; we very much recommend it, well worth the price.
